Teddy Killerz [RU / UA]
Teddy Killerz is a russian-ukrainian trio, which was born as a result of collaboration of a duo Place2b (Yekaterinburg, Russia) and Paimon (Zaporozje, Ukraine) and also the third member of the band, who joined the project a bit later – Garud. (Rostov na Donu, Russia)
One of the most outstanding and perhaps, well known projects from Russia, which has recommended itself as a true leader of post-soviet and European bass scene. For two years of existence Teddy Killerz have released tens of dancefloor action hits, which were released on biggest EDM music labels such as OWSLA, Universal Music, RAM recs etc.
Beginning their career by a huge win at a remix competition on Skrillex, at „Skrillex`s choice“ nomination, promoted by beatport.com, the project had caused quite huge internest from the OWSLA music label, and shortly arter that, Teddy Killerz signed an exclusive contract with this label.
Within two years of joint production with different artists outside Russia Teddy Killerz managed to make some collaborations with such artists as Modestep, DOPE D.O.D. ,Skrillex, I am Legion etc.
Working in very different styles of bass music and experimenting with the most heavy sounds, the band was gained support of almost every „heavyweight“ of the stage. Among them: Chase & Status, Skrillex, 12th Planet, Modestep, Noisia, Knife Party, Andy C and many others.
At present Teddy Killerz are being residents of one of the oldest and mightiest drum and bass labels – RAM Records / EMI under the management of the legendary Andy C.
The geography of their performances is really wide. From the Far East to United Kingdom. “Teddys” were performing in Chech Republic, UK, France, The Netherlands, Germany, Hungary, Russia, Ukraine and Belarus. The tight gig graphic pretty much shows the level of success and demandness of the project at their homeland and outside it aswell.
Interview with Teddy Killerz
Hi ! Please tell our readers, how did you guys got together and Teddy Killerz were born ? Who came up with the name for the project ?
Anton (Place2B) and Oleg (Paimon) were working together for a long time as Place2b & Paimon duo. I joined them a bit later, when I met Anton at Neuropunk Session festival in Rostov. We came up with an idea to create a new project, which would be more orientated for the public outside Russia. That was the idea. Name for the band was chosen later, when we thought through hundreds of variations.
How are the roles in the band distributed between you guys ?
Anton and Oleg are producing the sounds, I’m dealing with the band promotion, communicate with labels, artists et. All three of us are performing as DJs.
What are your inspiration sources ?
Anything can be an inspiration source – somebody’s new track, a good weather or perhaps strong alcohol
How would you describe your sound and which way could it develop further ?
I think this question should be addressed to our listeners, they could describe it better. Ever since Teddy Killerz were created we never set up ourselves any kinds of frames, we just do what we like to do.
Have you met internet piracy problems already ? How can you think is possible to fight this ?
Yes we have. Anyhow, this problem is more actual in the post-soviet countries. The solution we found is really simple – we just began to upload our full tunes, after their release, leaving our listeners a simple moral choice – to support artists by money or just to download and enjoy the music. What are you currently working at ? What kind of releases can we wait in close future ?
At the moment we are “moving” from OWSLA to RAM Recs, and none of our own releases will hit the stage at closest future, because we are fully concentrated on creating our very first EP for RAM. Pretty soon a collab with DOPE D.O.D is going to be released, also a few remixes, on I am Legion, for example, aswell as few collabs with Brain Crisis for his debut plate for Subtitles.
Which of your achievements you count as the more important ones by this time ?
It’s hard to say. At the moment I think, that this could be the thing, that we got out from behind of the “iron curtain” and started performing outside Russia pretty much.
Do you have a dream or a direct goal ? To perform before the 20 000 crowd or getting a contract with some big label, for example ?
It would be very nice to perform at some festival in the USA. Or perhaps, to manage a tour through the US. We have a pretty big and active audience there.
You are already idols for many artists and listeners, and who could you name as your own idols or favorites ?
They are still the same: Noisia, Feed Me, Eskmo and others.I would say they are more leads for us, then idols.
You have performed pretty much shows already, which ones do you remember best and why ?
For example, Oleg was left under a huge impression after Let it Roll festival, hosted in Chech Republic. It is one of the biggest dnb festivals in Europe, with an amazing lineup and very high leveled organization.
What do you know about Estonia ?
It is a country located in northern Europe. At the northern-east coast of the Baltic sea. Actually, we don’t know much about it, and we want to explore it more. We are really happy, that our wish coincided with the opportunity now.
Do you know any Estonian artists ?
We like music made by Mutated Forms. Also we are friends with Chris Renegade. By the way, didn’t he get an Estonian sitizenship already ? )))
Are you preparing something special for us ? By the way, how do you prepare yourselves for the shows ? How do you choose material, what aspects do you keep in mind, or maybe you improvise at the show ?
Of course there is a preparation period. We choose new material, thinking it through, but most of the time we check the crowd and trying to understand what do the people want to hear.
What would you say to the people, who are going to visit Contrast, april 12th ?

Teddy killerzi set oli,selline nii ja naa,meeldis et mangis breaksi ja breakbeati aga kuidagi puudu jai miximis oskusest,kna vahepeal ikka jahtus asi taitsa maha,aga nii kui engage lavale astus oli puhta sassis värk tóite kóvema kórvalesineja kui peaesineja.ma aimasin seda kohe kui kuulutasite et asphexia ei tule.Väga räige pidu oli ja ootan uut :)
