Leeds native Tom Wrankmore aka Eliphino started DJ’ing at 15. Soon after he became the resident DJ for the Drum Major clubnight, where he supported top notch hip hop acts like De La Soul, DJ Qbert and The Pharcyde. With the tender age of 17 he began to explore the beatmaking possibilities of his MPC drum computer. This led to his first “Out of Phase“ and “Made Seasons“ EPs through which he earned his underground reputation as UK’s production counterpart to US-beatsmith Madlib. Hardly surprising, as Eliphino’s first attempts to walk music-wise were strongly influenced by hip hop giants like Madlib, J Dilla, RZA, A Tribe Called Quest, Dabrye and others.
Now residing in London, he's broadened his sound palette with other styles and musical forms of expression and developed something like his own music formula, which is deeply rooted in all forms of UK bass music, including garage, UK funky and dubstep. These elements are complemented with bits and pieces from other genres like r&b and house, that saturate the deep chords and bass foundation of the tracks with sexyness and catchyness.
Lately Eliphino has been on a roll: while numerous DJs, blogs and radios alike support his output, he released a string of singles and remixes on labels like Somethinksounds, Firstword Records and Hoya:Hoya. Gilles Peterson licensing “Let Me Love You Forever“ for his latest “Brownswood Electric“ compilation surely was the icing on the cake of two successful years. Eliphino is very much a name to remember for 2012!

Käärkäsi aka Sizorz started as a freestyle MC and member of the hip-hop group “Mikrofoniahistajad” in 2003. Because it was difficult to get some proper beats in those days he started to make his own ones. During the years he adapted the name Käärkäsi (Scissorhands) by producing instrumentals to other like-minded beat heads often sampling by cutting sound clips from movies. Nowadays his sound pulsates with dubstep still remaining experimental and open for collabs or remixes in the field of funk, hiphop & dnb.

Originally from Estonia, Espirit now lives and studies Music Technology in the United Kingdom. His sound is a unique combination of minimalism and experimentalism, but never forgetting the bass frequencies either.
