THE LEGEND OF AMERICAN MINIMAL TECHNO SOUND - DAMON WILD (Synewave records, New York)
Damon Wild is the president of Synewave. He has been producing music since 1991, and djing since the age of 15. He is recognized for his productions as a solo artist as well as for his collaborations. He is well known for his early acid tracks such as: "Bang the Acid", "Ego Acid", "Afghan Acid" , Equinox;"Pulzar", "Avion", Morph (with Dennis Ferrer), to the recent "Subtractive Synthesis" series. At the age of 15, Damon was already spinning on college radio shows (WTUL), in his hometown of New Orleans, La, then he moved North to New York City, to launch his music production career. In 1992, he worked as label chief at Experimental Records, NYC (NCP/ EX). He was active in signing such artists as: Joey Beltram, Freddy Fresh, Mark Bell, Cari Lekebusch, Woody Mcbride, Bryan Zentz, and Tim Taylor. ..One night after spinning at the Limelight club;NYC, Damon and his room-mate Ray Love teamed up to produce a fluke, non expected hit: Toxic Two "Rave Generator". It sold over 100,000 copies in six months, and went into the top 15, in the UK singles charts. Then, later In 1995, Damon decided it was time to begin his own label:Synewave. Damon has produced over one hundred, 12" singles, four albums & various remix productions. Besides producing, Damon enjoys dj'ing around the globe;he feels it is a great way to get new inspiration and test the latest material.. Techno for me is a way of life,actually a metafor to my life: it should not be defined, as it cannot be.
